After reading just first few chapters I have to say there are so many interesting thing about human behavior, which do not seem rational from at least from the traditional economists' point of view:

We tend to overvalue things we own, just because we own them. Some people wouldn't sell a bottle of good wine for 110$ if they owned it, but wouldn't buy the same wine for 90$.

The negative impact of loosing something on our happiness level is aproximately twice as big as the positive impact ...

Miloš continued story of a traveling book from Brno-Kohoutovice, Brno, Česko

As I was reading the book, I kept imagining how would Shift the monkey look in a movie. I came to the conclusion, that it would be an angry gorilla or something from the new Planet of the apes :D. Also I thought a lot about the separation of talking and "dumb" non-talking animals. The Narnians befriended the talking ones, but killed and ate the others. They made this even with the members of the same species. How would we humans behave if this happened in our world?

I have to say, I ...

Anne continued story of a traveling book from Boston, MA, United States

I heard about this book a few years ago from a friend in my book group. I purchased a copy and dove into reading it. This book changed the ways I looked at things and the way in which I moved through my days. It helped me to change my attitude from complaint to gratitude. Gratitude for big things, small things, and seemingly unimportant things. My gratitude is still a work in progress certainly, but I am grateful for this book for pointing me in the right direction.

The Reason for God (English Edition) by Timothy Keller
stories

A romance novel with a heart on the cover. Two characters who are meant to be. Alternating first person narratives following them through their lives. Sound familiar and wearingly clichéd? I didn't think I'd like it, and Kate Eberlen might not have made herself immediately appealing to the critic’s eye, but in her novel ‘Miss You’ she has written an interesting, enjoyable and immersive work that is both light and literary, and a gently provocative read.

I really enjoyed this book.  It was a delightful story, had an interesting plot and was captivating until the end.  And, though I know that real life does not always have happy endings, I was happily content with the pleasant ending of this book.

I enjoyed the many quotes and thoughts throughout the book that though from animals, show ways in which we think and are influenced by our emotions in real ways.  The formation of and working together in community plays out in our human ...

Johanna released new traveling book from Albuquerque, NM, United States

I heard an informal interview with Amy Tan on "Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me" and was sold on reading one of her books. This one tells the stories of 4 second generation women whose mothers came from China. Told with a respect for tradition and an appreciation for trying to understand where we come from as well as what has shaped us (and our parents).
It was heartbreaking to see some of the stories unfold, secrets and stories that had been kept for years, or merely never shared because they were ...

A classic.  A name that you've probably heard.  A name that sounds similar to "The Bridge Over the River Kwai"...

Indeed, that was what seemed so familiar when I bought this book.  My dad frequently spoke of the other bridge.  I was slightly confused when I read that it was a love story and not a World War 2 story.

Guess it pays to pay more attention when you buy a book, huh?
